Not even three years have passed, and the Toyota Rav 4 2022 model year has already managed to go through a restyling. The engines are de-energized in accordance with the tax brackets. Power of two-liter "four" M20A-FKS is reduced to 149 (-26) hp, and 2.5 engine with A25A-FKS received 199 (-6) horsepower. Transmissions are adapted to off-roading. For this purpose, the Direct Shift-CVT variator has an additional gear that works at speeds up to 25 km/h, and the first step of the 8-band automatic UB80F has been made as short as possible.

Dynamics and economy

As before the restyling, the base 2022 Toyota Rav 4 with 149-horsepower unit and 6-speed manual transmission climbs the first hundred in 9.8 seconds and consumes an average of 6.8 liters per 100 km. Installing a variator reduces the dynamics to 11 seconds flat, but slightly improves (6.7 liters) fuel economy. Top-end modification with 249 hp paired with an automatic exchanges a hundred in 8.5 seconds and consumes 7.3 liters of gasoline. The top speed of all versions is limited to 190 km/h.

Driveability and flotation

Pros and cons

The main advantage of the Toyota Rav 4 is such a fundamental discipline, as the ratio of controllability and smooth running. Here the model is one of the leaders in its class. The space in the rear seats and passability with borrowing of electronics from Land Cruisers are also worthy of all praises.

The main minus, especially conspicuous, is the out-of-date multimedia system. Graphics and performance of this complex correspond more to standards of 10 years ago, rather than modern trends of time, and in 2022 we should hardly expect tangible progress.
