Not even three years have passed, and the Toyota Rav 4 2022 model year has already managed to go through a restyling. The metamorphosis that the new body got after the modernization is shown on the example of the Adventure version. Presented photos clearly hint at the concept car FT-AC, why in the appearance of the updated crossover appeared more futuristic notes. Technical characteristics of the engine range will remain unchanged, which promises the preservation of the attractiveness of packages and prices. The release date can be expected next year.
New Body
The current Toyota RAV4 2022 with a new body is the fifth generation of the popular model. The transition to the TNGA modular platform means kinship with the Camry sedan. Today's restyling is the first, but by no means the last in view of the fierce competition in this segment of the parkettes.
Design
The main changes include new LED headlights with a different pattern and a more massive grille. The front bumpers of the Rav 4 2022 received fog lights in a different design. For the body became available two-tone paint, combining shades of Urban Khaki and Dynamic, designed to remind the legendary Toyota Land Cruiser 40-series of the sixties. Trunk
The new fifth-generation Toyota RAV4, compared with its predecessor, has increased the volume of the trunk to 580 (+3) liters. The capacity of the compartment with the folded back sofa is 1,600 liters. In the basement of the compartment is a spare wheel. As before restyling, the expensive variants will please with electric luggage door. There is no additional hatch for carrying long objects.

Engines and Transmissions
Both Toyota 4-cylinder atmospheric gasoline engines belong to the Dynamic Force family. The design of the engines is notable for the use of combined fuel injection, variable valve timing on the inlet and outlet, high (13:1) compression ratio and the ability to work in the economical Atkinson's cycle at low loads. The engines are de-energized in accordance with the tax brackets. Power of two-liter "four" M20A-FKS is reduced to 149 (-26) hp, and 2.5 engine with A25A-FKS received 199 (-6) horsepower. Transmissions are adapted to off-roading. For this purpose, the Direct Shift-CVT variator has an additional gear that works at speeds up to 25 km/h, and the first step of the 8-band automatic UB80F has been made as short as possible.
Dynamics and economy
As before the restyling, the base 2022 Toyota Rav 4 with 149-horsepower unit and 6-speed manual transmission climbs the first hundred in 9.8 seconds and consumes an average of 6.8 liters per 100 km. Installing a variator reduces the dynamics to 11 seconds flat, but slightly improves (6.7 liters) fuel economy. Top-end modification with 249 hp paired with an automatic exchanges a hundred in 8.5 seconds and consumes 7.3 liters of gasoline. The top speed of all versions is limited to 190 km/h.
Driveability and flotation
As well as in case with sedan Camry, transition of Toyota RAV4 to modular platform TNGA has positively influenced steerability of the new model. By the standards of the segment RAV4 can be easily called a driving automobile, and the electric booster which has moved from a steering shaft to a rack only adds reactive action. Safety
In independent Euro NCAP crash tests, the new Toyota earned the maximum 5-star rating. In numbers, that means 1.7 out of a possible two points for frontal impact and 15 out of 16 for side impact. All this translates into 93 percent occupant protection. Pedestrians in a possible collision are a bit less lucky (85%): there is a probability of injury risk in the area of front body pillars.
Pros and cons
The main advantage of the Toyota Rav 4 is such a fundamental discipline, as the ratio of controllability and smooth running. Here the model is one of the leaders in its class. The space in the rear seats and passability with borrowing of electronics from Land Cruisers are also worthy of all praises.
The main minus, especially conspicuous, is the out-of-date multimedia system. Graphics and performance of this complex correspond more to standards of 10 years ago, rather than modern trends of time, and in 2022 we should hardly expect tangible progress.
