Taking the TNGA modular platform as a basis, the designers of the Toyota Rav 4 extreme 5 version were forced to copy the dimensions, dimensions of its predecessor geometry, namely the body length/height/width parameters equal to 4595/1699/1854 respectively - all dimensions in mm.
Which is 5mm longer and lower and 10mm wider than the previous crossover model. Thus, the clearance has seemingly decreased by 5 mm due to that the reliable protection of the engine compartment is put, having fixed 195 mm of clearance above the road.
Though, rumours that with installation of 19 inch wheels, clearance reaches 200 and even 215 millimeters for some versions of the model circulate among our garage community.
However, the biggest increase (by 30 mm) was on the wheelbase of restyled XA50 model, up to 2690 mm. This was reflected in an increase in the entry and exit angles of the off-road version of the crossover.
Our garage brother should pay attention to different values between wheel distances of front and rear wheels, which indicates that this crossover has increased off-road capabilities, as the front and rear wheels have independent tracks.
In other words, the tracks of front and rear wheels do not coincide in the process of movement, which contributes to increased passability of the car in difficult road conditions such as spring or autumn slush or overcoming, as snow drifts and sand dunes.
Updates of the Rav 4 have affected not only geometrical dimensions, but also parameters of rigidity of a body. In particular, the developers claim that due to the use of a higher quality steel grade, the features of the global platform architecture and optimal positioning, the installation marks, the torsional rigidity of the body has increased significantly (by 57%) even with the increase in the front door openings

The innovative solution of the architecture of Toyota's family TNGA platform is a modular design, namely the use of unified assembly units (modules). And all this to accelerate the development and market promotion of new models by significantly reducing both the time and cost of their design
This global platform, as the Japanese designers call it, allows the development of both front- and all-wheel-drive vehicles, from compact and mid-sized cars to fairly large models of predominantly off-road and family cars.
As for the platform's strength characteristics, it allows for an increase in body stiffness in the range from 30 and up to 65% with a focus, as already mentioned, on the application of new materials and technologies, as well as improved handling due to the fact that the centre of gravity of the modular construction is lowered.
Nuances of body geometry of the new Rav 4
Externals of the new Ravchik gravitate to SUV, rather than to a parkette because of:
the brutal front end with its strength and power;

the distance between the front doors is 1,495 mm;
The width and depth of the pilot and navigator seats are 530 mm and 430 mm, respectively;
the width of the cabin space in the area of rear passengers' accommodation is 1305 mm;
The width and depth of the outer passengers' seats is 450mm and 470mm;
and the width and depth of the middle passenger seat is 405mm and 430mm.
Our garage mates who have owned the new crossover claim that the interior is big enough not only to accommodate relatives and fellow passengers, but also to use the cabin as cargo space.
