ECO mode for active fuel economy
RAV4 ECO mode helps to reduce fuel consumption by controlling the engine and transmission. Fuel efficiency depends on driving style and road conditions.
ECO mode is activated by the Active ECO button (active fuel economy) and the green ECO indicator comes on.
After switching on, the active fuel economy system remains on until the Active ECO button is pressed again. The Active Fuel Economy System does not deactivate after stopping and restarting the engine. To turn off the system, press the Active ECO button again.
After deactivation of the Toyota RAV4 eco mode, the normal mode is restored.
When active Toyota eco mode RAV4 is on:
Engine noise may increase.
The vehicle speed may decrease slightly.
The performance of the air conditioner may change. Limitations in the operation of the active fuel economy system:
If the following conditions occur while the active fuel economy system is running, the system will be limited despite the constant state of the ECO indicator.
At low coolant temperature:
The system will be limited until normal engine operation is restored.
When driving uphill:
System operation will be limited to gain power due to engine torque limiting.
When using sport mode:
System operation will be limited based on the current transmission range.
If the accelerator pedal is pressed hard and held for a few seconds:
The system will be limited due to its decision that the driver intends to increase speed. (Only for gasoline engine).
How to turn off eco mode on Toyota RAV4?
To turn off eco mode on a Toyota RAV4 you will need to press the eco button located on the dash.
What is eco mode RAV4?
Eco mode changes the throttle mapping in a way that it requires more input from the accelerator pedal than in Normal mode to achieve the same acceleration.
In other words, if in Normal mode a 10% throttle input meant achieving (as an example) 30kph in 10 seconds, in Eco mode the same 10% meant 30kph in 12–13 seconds.
