Toyota RAV4 has truly won the title of legendary and massive crossover. During its existence, produced from 1994 to the present, it has undergone major changes, but has not lost its philosophy.
Toyota RAV4
Toyota RAV4 (1994 – 2000, XA10)
The first generation of the crossover was produced in three body types: five-door, three-door and three-door with an open rear.
Toyota RAV4 II (2000 – 2006, body – XA20)
The second generation RAV4 was already produced in two body styles: five-door and three-door.
The range of gasoline engines in the second generation has expanded. A 1.8 liter engine appeared. with a capacity of 125 hp There was also a 2-liter gasoline engine with a volume of 2 liters and a capacity of 150 hp. Also a choice of four-wheel drive or front-wheel drive, automatic or mechanic.
In addition, a diesel unit with a volume of 2 liters and a capacity of 116 hp appeared. The drive is only full, a choice of either a mechanic or an automatic.
Toyota RAV4 III (2005 – 2014, XA30 body)
In the third generation of the crossover, the short three-door version disappeared and was replaced by a longer version of the five-door body called long.
The third generation of the crossover has lost its diesel version, and the range of petrol engines has undergone changes. Now, under the hood, there could only be 2.4 and 2.5 liter gasoline engines with 170 and 182 hp. respectively. The junior engine can be combined with both front and all-wheel drive transmissions. Gearbox only automatic on all versions.
Toyota RAV4 IV (2012 – 2019, body CA40)
In the fourth generation, the RAV4 IV has become noticeably richer in interior and options. There is only one body option left – a five-door.
The range of engines has expanded. A 2 liter gasoline engine was installed with a capacity of 146 and 151 hp. A 6-speed mechanic or a variator works in tandem with it. The second 2.5 petrol engine produces 179 hp. and works in tandem with a 6-speed automatic. In the fourth generation, the diesel engine returned. Moreover, there are two options: a 2-liter 124 strong or 2.2 149 strong units. They only come with four-wheel drive. The younger diesel engine can have a manual gearbox, the older one comes only with an automatic transmission.
Toyota RAV4 V (2018 to present body XA50)
The fifth generation RAV4 V has become even more technological and comfortable.
Gasoline engines of 2 and 2.5 liters. 2 liters has a capacity of 149 and 175 hp. Full or front-wheel drive. It is paired with either a 6-speed mechanic or a variator.
The 2.5 liter engine produces 199 and 205 hp. It can also be front or all-wheel drive. It is paired with a modern 8-speed automatic.
The diesel engine is gone as an alternative to the gasoline unit. In return, a hybrid version appeared. The electric motor is combined with a 2.5 liter petrol unit. At the output, the total power is: 218 hp for the front-wheel drive version, 222 hp for the all-wheel drive version. The fuel consumption of the hybrid version in the urban cycle does not exceed 5 liters per 100 km.
Toyota RAV4 V is loved by many owners. It has proven itself well in urban environments and outside urban asphalt. It feels pretty confident on the back roads, but it certainly isn’t an SUV. Has established itself as an unpretentious and reliable family car.
