How to reset error Toyota RAV4 engine lights
All motorists already know that the appearance of an error on the instrument panel combination of a car means a message about some problem with the systems in the car. It is possible not to mention what systems these may be, there are many of them: a power supply system, engine management, various road stability systems, etc.
In order to find out what the error means, you need to connect a scanner to the diagnostic connector that can read it. Then, according to the code of this error, it will be possible to draw a conclusion about a malfunction requiring intervention.
So, if everything is clear with diagnostics, or rather, with the procedure for conducting it, then what to do with an error that will remain lit with the “CHECK ENGINE” icon on the instrument cluster? Yes, here you can simply remove the contact from the battery. As a result, de-energize all circuits, that is, wait until the capacitors are discharged. In this case, the errors will be erased both on the instrument panel and in the memory of the on-board computer.
But there is another option when the error can only be erased on the instrument panel. So that she, as they say, does not callous her eyes. In this case, the error itself, that is, its chronology of appearance and the fact of existence, will remain in the on-board computer of the ECU. Also in this case, there is no need to disconnect the battery from the machine. This is done as follows
Steps Toyota RAV4 engine lights (CHECK ENGINE) reset error:
1. Turn on the ignition and apply the brake 5 times.
2. Turn off the ignition and apply the brake 5 times.
3. Turn on the ignition and apply the brake 10 times.
4. Start.
The error(s) have disappeared from the instrument cluster, but are still stored in the ECU memory!
If it didn't work the first time, then try the procedure again.
I also wanted to say that such a procedure for erasing, removing errors is suitable not only for the RAV4, but also for other Toyota models (Corolla, Auris, Yaris, etc.)
