Toyota continues to implement measures aimed at keeping the RAV4 at the top of its segment. For example, the crossover is expected to be upgraded by the autumn of this year in order to improve both comfort and safety. And these changes will probably affect the Toyota RAV4 2022 on the European market.
According to published information, the Japanese model will soon be equipped with a 10.25-inch virtual dashboard. And it will only be offered with the top versions of the crossover. Also in the maximum versions it will be possible to find the increased up to 12,3 inches touch-screen, while the base complete set will continue to install 7-inch one.
More interestingly, the Japanese model will get two new safety systems. According to told they noticeably increase autonomy level of the crossover. Due to these systems, RAV4's on-board electronics will be able to automatically track obstacles on the way and stop the Japanese model if necessary. Additionally, the new systems will not only be able to automatically brake the car, but also to take it off the road. Introduction of such changes will make the RAV4 more expensive. But how much the prices will increase is not known yet.
Later, Indian media reported that a new version of the Toyota RAV4 was being prepared for the local market. This car will be equipped with a hybrid unit and is aimed at a separate and sufficiently narrow audience of consumers. The new version of the RAV4 will be introduced in India as the CBU. The crossover in this variant is designed in the style typical of Lexus models. The novelty is distinguished by sharper outlines of the body. However, upon detailed consideration, it becomes clear that Toyota did not make cardinal changes in the configuration of the RAV4. The Japanese model is also an angular crossover in the base design.
It is reported that the RAV4 in the CBU variant will get a hybrid based on a 2.5-litre atmospheric engine and combined with a variator. Its claimed maximum output does not exceed 218 hp. This hybrid is supplemented by a compact electric motor, which connects rear wheels when necessary. Together with the new RAV4 CBU, buyers will be offered eight airbags, the driver's seat with the electric drive and eight adjustable positions, 360-degree cameras, and a standard set of systems, including blind spot monitoring.
Toyota RAV4 for China
Sales of the updated Japanese crossover have recently started in China, which was offered here for a minimum of 175.8 thousand yuan, or 18 000 USD. The standard version of the RAV4 visually does not differ from those on sale in other countries. But the modification, which provides for all-wheel drive and a 2-liter non-inflated engine, has a special off-road kit. It includes special guards that cover both bumpers, plastic door pads and black rear-view mirror housings.
The RAV4, intended for the Chinese market, is fitted with hard-wearing trim materials that won't absorb moisture. The seats are upholstered in suede and complemented by diamond stitching. An optional two-tone body painting is available with the Japanese novelty.
We shall note that the RAV4 presented in Europe will be sold in the near future in the former form. Toyota has no plans to update this model.
